Tourism share of GDP was 5.9% in 2009, a 1.3% increase from the previous year. The gross domestic product (GDP) measured by the production approach decreased by 7.9% in 2009 while tourism gross domestic production decreased little less or by 6.8% which explains the tourism increase in GDP. In 2009, total internal tourism consumption in air transport services was 30% of the total tourism consumption or 57 billion ISK.
