In 2013 the median housing burden in Iceland was 16.8% of disposaple income, having been fairly stable since 2006. Underlying this stability are substantial changes depending on tenure status as the housing burden rose for tenants but fell for owner occupiers. Overall the proportion of people overburdened by housing costs fell during the period from 2006 to 2013. There are, however, important differences between groups.
