The number of persons in the labour force in the 1st quarter of 2011 was 176,000 which corresponds to an activity rate of 79.2%. The number of employed persons was 162,300 and unemployed persons were 13,700. The employment rate was 79.2% and the unemployment rate was 7.8%. The number of unemployed persons increased by 200 from the 1st quarter of 2010 and the number of employed persons decreased by 1.500. The unemployment rate in the capital region is 8.5% and 6.5% in other regions.
